the Wiki-ME format
When creating or editing a page please respect the following format:
- Keep your text briefly and to the point;
- Use references;
- Always support the information you put on a page with references to relevant literature. For example "according to Schoenfeld (1992)" or "this is termed as mathematical thinking (Schoenfeld, 1992)".
- Put the reference list in a section on the bottom of the page and name it "References".
- Use the APA referencing style.
- Put three empty lines between your text and the References-section.
- If you use a term in your text that already exists in the wiki-ME database then create a link to the existing page.
Creating a new page
- Go to http://yerme.eu/wiki and log in with your personal account. You have to be logged in with your personal account in order to be able to create a page.
- Type in the search field the title for your page (e.g. "mathematical thinking") and click "go".
- When the term does not exists it says: "There is no page titled "mathematical thinking". You can create this page." Click on "create this page" and you will find an editor to write the content for your new page. When you are ready you can publish your page by clicking "save page".

- Click the "edit" tab right above the page title.

Creating a link
You need to use square brackets to add a link. There are different kinds of links you can create.
- Creating a link to an external page
- This is an example of an external link: Yerme homepage
- To establish this you need to type the following in the editor [http://yerme.eu Yerme homepage]
- Creating a link to another wiki-page (an internal link)
- If you use a term in your text that already has a page in the wiki database, just put it between double square-brackets and it will link to this page. If you for example want to link to the term mathematical thinking you type [[mathematical thinking]].
- Creating a link to a future wiki page
- If you use a term in your text that does not yet has a page in the wiki database, and you put it between double square-brackets, it shows a red link. When somebody who is logged in clicks on this link he or she is able to create this page.
Changing the layout of the page
The most important lay-out tricks are the following:
- Putting a return in your text
- When you need the text to continue
- on the next line you need to type <br>
- Beginning a new paragraph
- To start a new paragraph leave an empty line.
- Hypenating a text
- To make a text appear in italic you need to put the text between four accent symbols ('), i.e. start with two accent symbols (not one quote symbol: "), type the text you want to italicize, and end with two accent symbols. So you need to type for example ' 'italic' '.
- Creating a section
- A new section can be created by putting text between equals signs. This section for example has been created by typing ==Changing the layout of the page== .
- Do not use the first level heading (e.g. =Help=) as this level is reserved for the page title.
- Itemising
- An unordered list can be created using the asterisk-symbol. The number of asterisks denotes the level.
- Example:
- text 1 (level 1)
- text 2 (level 2)
- text 3 (level 2)
- text 4 (level 1)
- text 1 (level 1)
- can be created using:
- * text 1 (level 1)
- ** text 2 (level 2)
- ** text 3 (level 2)
- * text 4 (level 1)
- * text 1 (level 1)
- An ordered list can be created using the hash-symbol. The number of hashes denotes the level.
- Example:
- text 1 (level 1)
- text 2 (level 2)
- text 3 (level 2)
- text 4 (level 1)
- can be created using:
- # text 1 (level 1)
- ## text 2 (level 2)
- ## text 3 (level 2)
- # text 4 (level 1)
- # text 1 (level 1)
- Indentation without bullets or numbering can be created using the colon-symbol. The number of colons denotes the level.
- Example:
- text 1 (level 1)
- text 2 (level 2)
- text 3 (level 2)
- text 4 (level 1)
- can be created using:
- : text 1 (level 1)
- :: text 2 (level 2)
- :: text 3 (level 2)
- : text 4 (level 1)
- : text 1 (level 1)
